Hi, I’m Kathryn.
Finding a good therapist is like finding a good hairdresser, once you find one you are happy with you don’t want to let them go. Having someone ease out those aches and pains, but also being friendly and listening to how your day has been and sharing some of their own news is also really important. Getting the right balance is of course critical. You don’t want to plan for a treatment which enables you to fall asleep only to find you’ve got a therapist who doesn’t stop talking but equally you don’t want to be in the situation where you’d like a chat and you only get ‘um’s’ in response. You want someone to really listen to what you want and adapt the treatment accordingly. Too many times have I gone for a back massage, willing them to stop what they are doing and concentrate on the area that really needs some work. If you don’t enjoy it, then you won’t go back. I remember my tutor once saying that you need to treat each treatment like its your last. You haven’t got the luxury of ‘having another go’ – if someone doesn’t enjoy it, that’s it.
In order to let someone massage you, you also need to feel comfortable in your surrounds. You may feel happier at home or prefer to escape into a different environment. I really want to be able to provide a range of treatments to people where they feel happy and relaxed. I want you to enjoy it (and hopefully come back from more) and I want you to like me as a person. It is a difficult decision to let someone into your home that you don’t know so I am always happy to meet people in advance to check that you are happy with me before you commit to any booking,
So to give you a bit of an insight into my world and to find out who I am and what is important to me, and of course to see if I might be the sort of massage therapist you are looking for I’ve decided to also use this blog to also talk about me on a personal level too. I hope this will put people at ease, make you understand how important my business is to me and how important it is for me to provide treatments which really make a difference to you and ultimately hopefully it will encourage you to give me a call.
Having spent the best part of 12 years in PR and marketing (London and Leeds), a redundancy enabled me to finally turn what was a hobby into a business and most importantly has helped me to do something that I love. Making the jump from a hobby to a business was a big decision but something that I desperately wanted to do and I am delighted that I have finally done it!
For me, giving someone a massage is wonderful. I love the way you can make people feel during the treatment, the challenge of smoothing out knots and afterwards having clients stretch, shake off any stiffness and walk out looking straighter, smiling and often yawing (I love it when people yawn following a treatment). I know that the chances are they will have a better sleep that night and feel great it the morning and any pain will have eased. Having repeat customers is wonderful but I equally enjoy meeting new clients, finding out more about them and helping to ease their aches and pains.
I really hope this has provided you with a bit of an insight to me as a massage therapist and as an individual and I look forward to meeting you one day.
